The gubernatorial candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC in Zamfara State, Senator Kabiru Marafa, has promised to tackle the problem of insecurity in the state if elected as governor.
He says if he spends two years without doing what is right in terms of security, he will resign from his position as governor.
Senator Marafa stated this while speaking with journalists in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, shortly after meeting with various groups as part of his campaign activities.
He said his decision to contest for governor stemmed from his desire to contribute to restoring peace and development in the state.
The NDC guber candidate said he has the experience and capacity to provide leadership that will address the challenges facing the state, especially insecurity.
On the strategies, he has mapped out to tackle insecurity, Senator Marafa said the full details of what he will do for the people of the state cannot be revealed until he is sworn in as governor, then he will disclose them.
He assured that, if elected, his administration will hit the ground running after the transition period, with a comprehensive security plan to be implemented from the start.
Senator Marafa said he will give himself two years to achieve the security responsibilities within the purview of the state government, while expecting the Federal Government to handle its own responsibilities.
He promised that, within two years, if his administration fails to achieve at least seventy-five percent of its security objectives, he will resign from his position.
The gubernatorial candidate stated that the unveiling of the campaign council that will spend five days as planned to consult critical stakeholders, hold meetings and consult with residents on issues affecting the state.
According to him, the discussions are aimed at assessing the party’s level of acceptance, identifying areas requiring greater attention and strengthening its campaign structure ahead of the election.
He said the leadership of the party’s campaign structure will be drawn from different parts of the state, with representatives from various areas.
The NDC candidate explained that the party began visits and meetings with different groups since Monday, September 14, as part of its consultations.
He also said the ongoing consultations will enable the party to engage directly with the electorate and listen to their concerns.
